Since January 2010 EPA has been undertaking a review of it’s Carbon Management Principles (CMPs).  Originally developed by EPA Victoria in 2007, they have helped inform many businesses’ to develop a suitable carbon management approach.  This has allowed the CMPs to be tested by a broad range of operations, and as a result, we have received feedback on how to improve them to ensure they remain useful and relevant.

We know that energy prices will continue to soar, we also know that the Federal Government plans to introduce a carbon price. Those two things we can be sure of.

But there is still a lot of work to be done in defining the detail and modelling the likely impacts of a carbon price on business, especially small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate that the forests and the carbon they store are additional and credible.  By allowing retirement of carbon credits from forest sinks across Australia, the Government is committing to not count this carbon for themselves.
