2010 has been a confused and dramatic year for climate change policy in Australia. After apparent setbacks the end of the year has seen tentative signs of progress.

In November 2010, the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency released a consultation paper on the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI), a new scheme to give farmers, forest growers and landholders a framework to generate carbon offsets.

The ‘Cashing in on Carbon’ Guide, released in October 2010 by The Climate Group, is designed to help all Victorian businesses go low carbon and make the most of the opportunities available in doing so.

EPA Victoria has just celebrated the 1st birthday of its new Head Office at 200 Victoria St, Carlton. This building is a redeveloped pre-loved building, which is now one of Melbourne’s most sustainable commercial office buildings. The building, most recently a former CUB laboratory, is one of the first commercial retrofit buildings in Australia to have achieved 6 Star Green Star Ratings in Office Design and will be aiming for 6 Star Green Star Ratings As Built and Office Interiors...

The Australian Conservation Foundation’s GreenHome program is a community education program which was developed in 2004 to deliver sustainable living programs in New South Wales. In 2007, due to its success, it was extended to operate in Victoria.
